JOEY Lansdowne — Globally Inspired Dining in the Glebe’s Living Room
Lansdowne Park has become Ottawa’s open-air living room — farmers’ markets, concerts, football — and JOEY Lansdowne is its dining anchor. The Vancouver-born premium-casual group brought its signature mix here: a globally inspired menu, award-winning wine selection, hand-crafted cocktails and a room designed so that every seat feels like the good one.
The Story
The JOEY group started in Calgary in 1992 as Joey Tomato’s and grew, under founder Jeff Fuller of the famous Fuller restaurant family, into one of North America’s most consistent premium-casual brands. The Lansdowne room carries the house style: open concept from kitchen to bar, thoughtful lighting, and touches of hospitality — like a welcoming glass of bubbles on some evenings — that make a chain feel personal.
What to Order
Crab dip and truffle fries to start, then lobster spaghetti or herb-crusted salmon if the evening calls for something elegant; steaks, burgers and generous salads cover every other mood. The dessert list is short and dangerous, and the wine program is a genuine strength rather than an afterthought.
The Space
An airy, open room organized around a long central bar, with high-top tables, warm wood and a broad seasonal patio that looks onto the life of Lansdowne. On summer evenings the patio is one of the most pleasant places in the city to watch the light fade.
Who It’s For
Couples pairing dinner with a stroll through the park, families after a market Saturday, friends catching up over a long table — and concert-goers who want a proper meal before the show.
Good to Know
Do I need a reservation? Recommended, and essential on stadium event nights; book the patio early in warm months.
Is it family-friendly? Yes — the menu is broad enough for kids, and daytime visits are relaxed.
Are there lighter options? Plenty — big salads, bowls and seafood keep it from being all indulgence.
Does the patio take bookings? Partially — some tables are held for walk-ins, so arriving early helps.
Is it walkable from the Glebe? Entirely — it sits inside Lansdowne, minutes on foot from the Glebe’s shops and the Rideau Canal.
