BossArts Salon and Spa — a downtown Aveda salon and spa since 1981

BossArts is one of downtown Ottawa’s longest-running salons, near Parliament Hill and trading in one form or another since 1981. It is a full Aveda concept salon and spa, which shapes everything from the plant-based colour and care lines to a mission of helping people feel and look good on their own terms. It is also a teaching salon, so newer talent is developed under senior stylists on the floor.

Services

As a salon and spa, BossArts covers far more than hair: women’s, men’s and barber cuts, curly cutting, updos and occasion styling, and a full colour menu of highlights, all-over colour, glossing and correction. The spa side adds facials, back treatments, manicures and pedicures, gel and paraffin nails, lash tint and lift, makeup, and a full range of waxing.

Technology and brands

BossArts is built around Aveda, using its plant-derived Botanical Repair, Nutriplenish, Scalp Solutions and Full Spectrum lines for customized hair and scalp treatments and colour — a naturally derived, aroma-driven experience. Colour is planned by consultation, lightening kept in condition, and nail and esthetics stations sanitized between guests.

Team and stylists

The salon is owned by Bill Bossart, a hairstylist since the mid-1970s who built it around a values-led, client-focused culture. The team is deep — senior, advanced and salon stylists, nail technicians, an esthetician and full front-of-house — so several services run in parallel.

BossArts occupies a substantial downtown space with hair, spa and nail areas under one roof, in the calming, sensory Aveda style. Its central position makes it a convenient one-stop for downtown workers, core residents and nearby visitors, for a quick cut or a longer hair-and-spa afternoon.
